As the Project Manager for Sugar House Island, a transformative project by Vastint, Blue Developments had the privilege of spearheading the development of a distinctive new urban environment in the south of the Olympic Park. Sugar House Island, bounded by water on two sides, was carefully curated by a cosmopolitan team of architects, designers, and place-makers who aimed to create a space that everyone would enjoy. Spanning 26 acres, this quietly spectacular corner of London encompassed a vibrant mix of features, including 624,000 ft² (58,000m²) of office space, bringing 2,500 jobs to the local area.
Additionally, the development included 1,200 homes, ranging from family-sized mews houses to riverside apartments, a 350-bedroom hotel, independent-themed restaurants, bars, cafés, and shops, as well as over three acres of parks and yards with a scenic riverside walk.
Furthermore, three new bridges were designed to seamlessly connect Sugar House Island with its surrounding areas, and plans were in place for a two-form entry primary school. It was an exciting and fulfilling experience to contribute to the transformation of Sugar House Island into a thriving and inclusive community.
